Goals!

The Straub For Kids platform is about enhancing the lives of our children and
we know how to do just that!

First is Student Performance. We need to track the progress of our children against previously established academic goals. We also need to find out the root cause of why we aren't scoring as well as other counties, and be willing to scrutinize our own policies to improve student achievement.

Second is Teacher Environment. Quite simply, we need the best teachers for our kids. We must ensure that we provide a teacher environment that attracts and retains the top teachers. What is it that makes a good teacher stay in the district they are in? We need to understand what the top teachers are looking for, give them the incentives to grow with the county, but maintain fiscal responsibility at the same time.

Third is Parent Involvement. With the financial, cultural and lingual difference in our community, we need to make sure that all parents have the opportunity to be involved in the education of their children. In addition, Forsyth has two excellent technology applications in Parent Connect and Test Trax. We need to ensure that all parents know about these tools and have the opportunity to leverage them to their fullest potential.

Finally, we need a new focus on Driver's Education. The fatalities and series injuries involving teens in this county speak for themselves. Our kids are driving powerful vehicles on narrow and winding streets without the know-how to do it safely.Jim has a plan for how to give our kids the education and hours behind the wheel that could save their lives and those with whom they share the road.
